Privacy policy

Last updated 8 October 2026

We keep only what the game needs to work. No ads, no tracking, and we never sell your data.

What we keep

You can play without an account. Our server keeps:

  • A player ID The app makes a random ID the first time you open it. It doesn’t contain your name, your email address or your phone number.
  • Your answers Each word you answer, if you were correct, and how long you took. Practice uses this to choose your next words. Today’s puzzle uses it for your result and for the number of players each day.
  • Your progress The words and the endings that you have learned, and when each word comes back.
  • Your time zone and your phone’s language So that a new day starts at your midnight, and translations show in your language.
  • Your Apple account, if you sign in The account ID and the email address that Apple shares with us. We use them only to keep your progress with your account. Sign in with Apple lets you hide your email address.

What stays on your phone

The daily reminder and its time. Your phone schedules the reminder, so we don’t send notifications and we don’t keep a notification token.

What we don’t do

We don’t show ads. We don’t use analytics or tracking tools. We don’t sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Why we use it

We use your player ID, your answers, your progress, your time zone and your language to run the game. If you sign in, we use your Apple account to keep your progress with it. Without this data the game can’t work. The law calls this reason “performance of a contract”. We don’t ask for your consent, because nothing we keep goes beyond what the game needs.

Who handles it for us

These companies run parts of the service. They use your data only to do that work for us.

Company What it does
Vercel Runs our server and this website
Neon Stores the database
Cloudflare Sends the card pictures to your phone
Apple Sign in with Apple, only if you sign in

Our server and database are in the United States. Vercel, Cloudflare and Neon (part of Databricks) are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. Apple runs Sign in with Apple under its own privacy policy. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.

Request logs and this website

When the app talks to our server, or when you visit this website, Vercel keeps a log of each request for a short time. The log has your IP address. We use it only to find and fix problems. This website uses no cookies, and it loads nothing from other companies.

How long we keep it

If you signed in, we keep your data until you delete your account. If you didn’t sign in and you stop playing, we delete your data 1 year after the last time you played. Deleted data can stay in our backups for up to 7 days.

Delete your data

In the app, open About and tap Delete account. We delete your account and all your progress at once, on every phone. You can’t undo this.

How to delete your account

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, or get a copy in a file you can take to another service. Email hello@comprenday.app. Elliot Waddington is responsible for your data. If you’re not happy with how we handle your data, email us first and we’ll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the CNIL in France (cnil.fr), or to the data protection authority where you live. In the UK, that’s the ICO (ico.org.uk).

Children

We made comprenday for adult learners, but younger players are welcome. You don’t need an account, and there are no ads and no tracking. If you’re under 15, ask a parent or carer before you sign in. A parent or carer can ask us to delete a child’s account at hello@comprenday.app.
